The Brook House - New Forest

New Forest — Contemporary house sitting in the landscape

Set alongside a small brook and surrounded by mature trees, this new-build house explores how contemporary architecture can sit naturally within the New Forest landscape. The design takes a deliberately low-slung approach, with generous openings and extensive glazing creating a strong connection between the interior and the surrounding woodland. The ground floor is conceived as a series of open, light-filled living spaces where the landscape becomes an integral part of everyday life. Rather than imposing itself on the setting, the house sits quietly within it, with minimal intervention to the natural landscape immediately around the building.

  • Contemporary architectural design responding to the character and constraints of the New Forest setting

  • Low-profile building form designed to sit comfortably within the natural landscape

  • Generous glazing and carefully positioned openings framing views of the trees and brook

  • Ground-floor living spaces designed to create an immersive connection with nature

  • Minimal landscaping intervention, allowing the existing natural setting to remain the defining feature of the site

Services included initial concept design, planning application and associated design drawings.
